At the Madison County Economic Forum Tuesday night, Jeremy Hensley, a commissioner candidate, preached a strange isolationism aimed at those of us who have moved here.
Essentially, if we don’t think exactly like him and his good ol’ boys and gals, we don’t deserve to live in Madison County. Jeremy Hensley opened his introduction at the forum by saying he was born and bred in Madison.
Hensley appeared angry, frustrated, and at times arrogant during the forum. Hensley emphasized his local background as his primary qualification for commissioner. He seemed piously uncomfortable sitting between Dr. Shannon Dowler and Connie Molland, both of whom performed better than the other candidates.
It was obvious in this forum that Hensley and Wyatt do not want to take responsibility for the problems and their actions that occurred while they were in office for the last four years.
Under the oversight of five Republican commissioners, corruption in the Madison County Sheriff’s Department has escalated and simmered to the top of State and federal inquiries.
They can’t bury these scandals, and they can’t use the mantra I am a Christian man, so therefore I should never be asked a question. These two men are supporting Buddy Harwood for reelection because they helped cover up his corruption. When the lawsuits start flying, and they will be plentiful, remember that these commissioners did nothing to stop Buddy and his dirty cops. Commissioner candidates Jeremy Hensley, Alan Wyatt, and Mark Snelson are the Rot and Soul of Buddy Harwood, and that is a fact, folks.
This spectacle coincided with the arrival of Wednesday’s mailer from the Madison County Republican Party. A desperate set of lies aimed at frightening county natives into thinking large tracts of land are being bought by the Devil incarnate.
This mailer has the distinct odor of Cousin Itt- Sherry Lewis and her cousin Grand ma ma Cindy Davidson, who did the same in Buncombe County. Their group stalked a home and claimed the residents were harvesting ballots when they were actually moving…
For all the folks who moved here, guess who Pugsley is…
Cindy Davidson was kicked out of the Buncombe Republican Party and then paid her way into Madison County’s Republican Party of bigots.
Davidson and Lewis seem to fit right in. Why not just be honest, say what it really is, and explain what they believe?

White nationalists claim to seek and ensure the survival of the white race and the cultures of historically white states. Remember Hensley’s statements at this forum.
Many longtime residents have expressed frustration with the Republican candidates’ conduct at this forum.
The party’s decision to let Sherry Lewis and Cindy Davidson oversee the presented narrative, particularly on accusations against non-local individuals, has noticeably affected public sentiment.
Sherry Lewis and Cindy Davidson presented an unsubstantiated claim about a land grab in Madison County. It appears the Madison County Republican Party did not thoroughly vet these two cousins’ political track records.
Folks, it is they who we need to be frightened of, not those moving in here…
Hensley’s and the Madison County Republican Party’s actions speak volumes as to their claim of Religious Morality…
This county would benefit from practical, balanced decision-making instead of the false moral arguments these Republican candidates use to justify their choices.
These Republican Commissioners have failed, as have those before them, including local grifter Mark Snelson, who chose not to attend this forum. I guess his excuse will be that he had to wear pants.
This hubris in thinking people move here because of the locals is offensive, and even more offensive is Hensley’s statement, “Let Madison Change you.”
I did not move here to become you, Mr. Hensley. I did not move here to go backward. I moved here for lower taxes and because Madison County had a Land Use Plan, which was an anomaly in WNC.
Unfortunately, under your leadership, both have deteriorated. The Madison County commissioners are building a monstrosity we cannot afford that will create a future shortfall, and your oversight has destabilized this county’s land use plan.
Hensley says that any new business wishing to come to Madison County must share his values. What exactly does that mean? Does it mean that new businesses must align with his personal or religious beliefs?
I appreciate that Shannon Dowler and Connie Molland have the energy and intelligence to address these issues. While I do not agree with them on every topic, I support them on the matters I believe are most important.
And you know what makes it better? They are not good ol’ boys trying to profit their friends and family. Which means they will follow the law of Public Records and transparency. That is why I am voting for both of them.
Jeremy Hensley, Alan Wyatt, Matt Wechtel, Mark Snelson, and Michael Garrison are supporting Buddy Harwood for commissioner. Don’t doubt me on this one; they are intent on making sure they don’t go down with Harwood’s crumbling Titanic. The corruption is intertwined with these five and one former commissioner.
If an Economic Forum is to be held, wouldn’t it be prudent to address the largest budget expenditure in our county: the Madison County Sheriff’s Department? Hensley and Wyatt could only pathetically gloat about the fact that Madison is the only county not increasing the millage rate.
However, Madison County is unique among North Carolina’s 100 counties in lacking commissioner oversight. During their four-year term, Hensley and Wyatt focused on taking over the Health Department, citing personal convictions as their motivation, yet they let the Sheriff’s Department suck the taxpayers dry because they chose the coward’s way out. Is this not malfeasance?
